presencing place: research space
The research space will be open from 6th August to 3rd September
What is the nature of being in our towns and cities?
What brings animals and plants into our towns and what are our relationships with them?
Often we barely notice the animals we inhabit a town with. Whilst some of us risk fines to feed the birds, others of us stick spikes to buildings to disrupt nesting sites.
During August Reading based artist Jo Thomas turns Gallery@49 into a live project and research space through sensing the natural world in Bracknell Town Centre. She will be inhabiting the pedestrian areas close to Gallery@49 and her drawings, maps and other findings will be collected in the Gallery throughout the month.
You are invited to share your thoughts and observations as part of this event by visiting the Gallery on Saturdays the 18th and 25th from 12 to 4 pm.
The research space is also open on Thursdays / Fridays from 1 – 3pm.
